We all know that our skin is sensitive to light, but let’s explore  what LED light is and how it can benefit your skin.

LED light stands for Light Emitting Diode and it was developed by NASA to grow plants in space. During NASA’s  study, scientist observed  that LED Light had a positive effect in the healing and repairing of body tissues. This discovery led to the development of LED technology, that sends light energy to the deeper layers of the skin for aesthetic purposes.

Clinical studies have shown that red and blue LED light therapy helps restore the body’s ability to heal. Stimulates cellular activity and collagen production, increases skin firmness and resistance and helps decrease sun damage.

Blue light also reduces inflammation and helps control bacterial growth, which is very good with conditions such as acne and rosacea. In fact it is one of the treatments that is recommended for very resistant acne.

Unlike laser or IPL treatments, LED therapy is for all skin types, it’s not painful  and doesn’t need recovery time. Sessions of about 30 to 50 minutes are recommended twice a week, for a period of 6 weeks.

One note of caution: LED light can generate free radicals that can damage  the cell, so it is highly recommended to use an antioxidants like Vitamin C. (Shop Derma C now!)
